Dapagliflozin is an oral medication used to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It can be used alone or in combination with other antidiabetic medications. Additionally, dapagliflozin has indications for the management of heart failure and chronic kidney disease.

Indications:

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus:

  • Used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Heart Failure:

  • Indicated to reduce the risk of hospitalization for heart failure in adults with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF).

Chronic Kidney Disease:

  • Used to reduce the risk of sustained eGFR decline, end-stage kidney disease, cardiovascular death, and hospitalization for heart failure in adults with chronic kidney disease.
